How to Listen, Search and Vote
1. Create An Account:
First you must Create An Account and ask you to enter your name, e-mail address, gender and postcode in doing so. To keep your account secure we also ask that you create a password whilst registering. You will use the e-mail address and password entered into this form to log into the website from now on.
2. Listen to Tracks:
Once you have created an account and logged into the website, you can listen to the hundreds of movie themes on this website in different ways.
Browse
The quickest way to start listening is to visit the Browse page, here you can listen to, vote for and look through our entire database of movie themes.
When you first visit the Browse page, you will see a list of ten movie themes; here you can start listening to each one by clicking on the individual Play button. Each track lasts 1 minute and at any point you can pause the track by clicking on the Pause button, then to resume just click on the Play button again.
The tracks are ordered in alphabetical order by film title. You can change the order of the tracks and sort them by alphabetical Name or Film and Year of Release, just click the up or down arrows to do so. For detailed information about each film such as writer, artist, director etc simply click the ‘show more information’ button.
Ten tracks are listed on each results page and to view the next set of themes just press the next button. You can also skip to the first, previous and last page of themes by clicking the appropriately titled button.
Shuffle
The next way to listen to the movie themes is by visiting the Shuffle page. Here a random track from our database is selected and presented onscreen. If you so choose, you can now listen to and vote for the theme. If you do not want to listen to this track, simply click the red ‘next’ button and another movie theme will be randomly selected.
3. Search:
There are two ways to search through the hundreds of tracks in our movie themes database.
Quick Search
The fastest method of searching is by using the quick search box, found at the top of every page on this website, titled “Listen and Vote Now”. In this search box you can enter either the name of the track or film title you would like to find. Just type in the track name or film title then click the Go button or press enter on your keyboard. A list of tracks that matched your search terms will now be presented on your screen, where you can listen and vote for them.
Advanced Search
The second way to find tracks is to use our Advanced Search feature, which can be accessed by clicking on the ‘Search’ button in the navigation menu.
Here you can search for tracks by Film Title, Actor and Director. Simply enter the film title, actor or director related to the movie into the relevant box and click the Go button or press enter on your keyboard.
You can also search for tracks by Genre, just select the type of genre from the drop down list and press the Go button next to it.
A list of tracks that matched your search terms or selected genre will now be presented on your screen, where you can listen and vote for them.
4. Vote:
On the Browse, Shuffle or Search Results page you can vote for the movie themes you would like to see make the Six CD Set.
To give a particular movie the chance of making the album then click on the green ‘Thumbs Up’ button next to the track. This will register your vote for the track and those movie themes with the most votes will make the album. Don’t forget that you can only vote for a specific movie theme once and you must be logged in to do so.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why must I create an account?
You are required to create an account on this website in order to keep the voting fair. This will stop any excessive anonymous voting for a particular track. This will result in an album that contains movie themes that have been genuinely and fairly voted for by the nation. Remember, that to enter our competition you must have created an account and voted for a track.
When does voting begin and end?
The voting for the Nations Favourite Movie Themes opens on Friday 23rd July 2010 and closes on Monday 13th September 2010.

Are the tracks contained on this website and to be released Six CD Set original recordings?
No these are not the original recordings. However, the tracks are drawn from the Silva Screen catalogue of newly recorded film themes - one of the most extensive throughout the world. These recordings are prepared from the original scores and recorded with orchestras in London, Prague and the USA, often under the supervision of the composers themselves. They are designed to present the best listening experience of these classic film scores.
How much will the Nations Favourite Movie Themes – Six CD Set cost?
The Recommended Retail Price for the album will be £15.99. However, this is subject to change.
What is the runtime of the album?
The runtime of the album will not be known until the voting has closed and results processed.
How many tracks will be on the album?
Like the runtime, the number of tracks on the Six CD Set will not be known until after the voting has closed.
Why can I not find a particular track in your database?
The database of tracks on this website is not a definitive list of every movie theme ever released. The list of over 1000 tracks has been carefully selected by Pearl & Dean and Silva Screen Records to cover a wide range of years, genres and films. The vast majority of tracks are orchestral themes. We apologise if your film is not included but we hope you do find some of your favourite tracks to listen and vote for.
How long does the preview of each track on this website last?
30 seconds.
How many tracks are there in the website database?
1001 Tracks.
Will the Pearl & Dean theme be included on the album?
Yes, at the beginning and end of each CD the iconic Pearl & Dean asteroid theme will be included, pa-pa, pa-pahhhh...pah!
How do I enter the competition?
To enter the competition you must first create an account and be logged in. Then as soon as you make your first vote, we will automatically enter you into the draw to win some great prizes. The winners will be drawn at random from all the users that vote on this website. Please note that each user will only be entered into the draw once, voting for multiple tracks will not increase your number of entries in the draw.
